A huge thank you to Mrs. Dorian, Ebony, and Amber for being some of the best instructors I could have asked for. Before starting dental school I was really nervous, but that feeling went away as soon as classes began thanks to our instructor Ms. Dorian. She is absolutely amazing. She explains everything in a simple and clear way that is easy to understand, and she takes the time to make sure everyone in our group feels confident. She made learning hands-on and collaborative, so we were able to work with our classmates and support each other. We had such a great group that truly learned together. One of the best parts was meeting a great friend, Jacky! We were able to grow, lean on each other, and learn side by side. Being able to not only learn new skills but also create such meaningful bonds is what makes this school so beautiful. I’m so grateful for this experience! Read less

I was honestly so nervous when I first started because I felt like I wasn’t going to be smart enough or that I would have a hard time keeping up. But once I walked in, I quickly realized that we were all learning together and feeling the same way. Miss Dorian made us feel so welcome from the very beginning and always reminded us that we were one team. She took the time to teach me everything, answer my questions, and help me become more confident in myself and my skills. I truly feel like she prepared me for my career and helped me realize that I am capable of doing this. Because of the confidence and knowledge I gained here, I’m so excited to say that I’m now starting my career at Hanigan & Johnson Orthodontics!! 🥹🦷 One of the best things I also got out of this experience was meeting Jariza, who became one of my close friends. Having someone to learn, laugh, and go through this journey with made school even more special. I’m so thankful for Miss Dorian and everyone at Dental Assistant School of Houston. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who is nervous about taking that first step—you are more capable than you think! 💜 Read less

I’m so glad I chose Dental Assistant School of Houston! Starting something completely new can be intimidating, but I’ve honestly had such a great experience here. My instructor, Dorian, has been AMAZING. She is so patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her students. She makes learning hands-on and actually fun, and she’s always willing to slow down and explain something again if you don’t understand it the first time. I’ve learned so much from her and feel so much more confident going into a dental office because of the way she has prepared us. I’m really thankful I decided to take this step and start a new career, and having such a great instructor has made the experience even better. This is a hands-on program, a different approach from traditional education. Our classes take place in a dental office rather than a classroom. Classes begin with a lecture and discussion, but most of the class time is spent in labs learning the essential dental assisting skills. When our students graduate, they feel at home in a dental office.

Dentists expect newly hired dental assistants to know fundamental skills. Our program focuses on helping you master those skills to set you up for success in your new career.

When you graduate from any dental assisting school you receive a certificate of completion. Many students ask if they can expect to make a higher starting salary if they attend a longer program. The starting salary for a Dental Assistant does not depend on how long you spent in school or how much you paid for your schooling.

Dental Assistants perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to assisting the dentist, carrying out clinical tasks, and completing administrative work.

Dental assistants may perform many different clinical duties including preparing patients and the work area for treatments and procedures, sterilizing dental instruments, assisting the dentist during procedures, administrative and front office tasks, working with patients on billing and payment, taking molds and impressions, performing x-rays, and more.

Dental Assistants are responsible for making patients feel at ease while also preparing them for treatment. During dental visits, assistants often work alongside the dentist.
